Reading Notes: Week 11, A
The Ox Who Won The Forfeit by Ellen C. Babbitt
There was a man who had a strong Ox
This Ox was one-of-a-kind
The Old Man would boast about his Ox to everyone he encountered
One day the Old Man came across a village and decided he'd make a bet
The Villagers all laughed at the idea of the strong Ox pulling 100 carts
The bet was a thousand pieces of silver
The bet was on and the Old Man whipped his Ox and called it names
The Ox refused to move by the unfamiliar behavior shown
When all was over the Old Man paid the forfeit fee and went along his way
At home, the two discussed what happen and the Old Man realized he had treated his Ox unfairly
The Ox was disappointed at that fact and made the Old Man lose money
When they came to a consensus, the two decided to go back and show the village what was up
In the end the Ox won double the money lost and left with a BANG!
This story shows that our greed seems to get in the way of things and makes us change our actions at the very moment.
