Introduction to the simple life of Paul

My Life

My name is Paul Choi and I am currently a senior here at OU. My major is Information Studies, which is within the College of Arts and Sciences Department. I'd say the coolest thing about my major is that I could do many things with it, without being limited to specifics. I plan to pursue a career in cyber security for which ever company gives me an opportunity to do so. I am currently taking my capstone, which is the most exciting class I've taken so far in my history of classes and I plan to try extra hard so that I can stand out to the clients we are working with. This capstone is similar to an internship due to the fact that we work with different clients and perform a plethora of tasks, which range from designing websites to creating databases.
Apart from my college life, I like to do many things outside of school. One thing in particular would be just hanging out with my friends and enjoying some drinks while we talk about some deep internal issues that have been going on or so. I also like to play video games in my free time, which consists of: Fortnite, Dead by Daylight, and league.
My favorite music right now would have to be EDM. I enjoy listening to numerous beats and the creativity behind it all. I've been to a few raves and had enjoyed it very much. Although, I do like to relax sometimes and listen to classic music to calm my mind. I just finished watching the last season of Orange is the New Black with my girlfriend and had some mixed feelings about it. Black Mirror's series was probably my favorite recent show, because it conveyed many technical aspects that could become real-life issues.
To wrap up my introduction, I have a few goals that I would like to successfully conquer. First, I would like to find an internship within cyber security so that I may gain some hands-on experience with what I wanna do for a living. Second, I would like to graduate in the Spring, without any interference's.

  1. How great to meet an Information Studies major, Paul! I remember when they were first setting up that major and it sounded like such a great idea. Maybe you will find a way to do a cybersecurity type of project for this class. It would be cool to look at all the supernatural weapons of the gods, for example, and see what kind of cybersecurity approaches they could inspire. You could invent some cybersecurity projects named after the gods and their weapons, for example. There are all kinds of modern products marketed in India with the names of the gods and other mythological details... and Wikipedia is full of information about the mystical astras of power from ancient India: Astra weapons ... that might be something fun to explore when you start the project brainstorming later this week! :-)

  2. Hi Paul! It sounds like you try to make technology or information a part of your life in every sect! I've never actually played Fortnite or League, but I've heard a lot of my friends really like the game, so maybe I'll have to try it out at some point! I hope your Capstone class is entertaining, and I hope you enjoy this year!

  3. Hey Paul, I'm Nicole or Neko as my google username indicates. I read that you liked Black Mirror and I also liked it but I felt like as the seasons and episodes progressed it got harder and harder to watch. It just felt so depressing because they all seemed to end in tragedy and without hope for the future. Do you ever watch any international Netflix original series? I have found that I like those more than most other things on Netflix and could give you some recommendations if you're interested!

  4. Hey Paul! My name is Deborah, and I’m a senior as well! I also hope to graduate next spring without any interferences. Your capstone class sounds interesting and it seems as though it would be really helpful in your future career! I haven’t taken my capstone yet, but I’m hoping that it’ll be both interesting and helpful in the future as well. Anyway, best of luck this year!

  5. Hi Paul!
I'm glad to hear that your capstone class is interesting and hope it goes well for you. I too am planning on graduating in the Spring, at least that's the goal. I think it's cool that you play Fortnite. I tried playing it once but let's just say I'm not the best at it. Also, good luck on achieving your goals and hopefully everything works out!

  6. Hi Paul! I'm Ethan!

Cyber security is definitely something that anybody in any business could hire you for. I hope you end up somewhere great with that. My friends and I also play quite of bit of Fort night. It gets a little old sometimes lol. Then again, I'm not that good at many video games. I'm more of a pocket gamer (iPhone). Anyways, I hope the rest of your capstone class goes well! Have fun!

  7. Hey Paul! I study the scarcity of natural resources, but some of my economics classes and starting an organization on camps that focuses on tutoring "at-risk" and "underprivileged" students have led me to also see information as a resource. Information is something that you have to have access to to even be able to take the next step of integrating that information into your own realm of understanding. I am interested in going to law school in the future because I recognize that information can be used for both good and bad. I want to be the person that can help my clients access information that they wouldn't have been able to otherwise due to a lack of education, financial resources, or political power and I also want to be able to sort out information and translate what is relevant to them in their own words. We are very lucky to have people like you to be guarding the world's most valuable resource!

  8. Hey Paul! It is always good to meet a fellow league of legends player. However, recently I have been spending more time on fortnite because my friends prefer that game right now. On another note, I think its awesome that you're going into cyber security. Going into that field, you are going to be at the forefront of technology and on the front line of defense. I'm sure you will have many good options to choose from after college and wish you the best of luck!

  9. Hey Paul! It’s good to read your introduction. I am glad that you have already planned your future accordingly after graduation. You’ll do great for any job and internship you apply to. I have also never been to a rave before, but I know that I will love it when I get the chance to. I hope you have a wonderful semester and good luck with your capstone!

  10. Hi Paul,

I enjoyed reading your introduction. I think it is super cool that the capstone for your degree is basically like an internship. That is an awesome way to get real world experience that you will use in your career. I agree with you in that my favorite thing to do is just relax and hangout with friends. It is also great that you like a variety of music.

    Have a great semester!

  11. Hi Paul,

Information Studies does seem like you have a lot of different side you can work with so you are not limited. Your capstone class seems very interesting and fun and a great opportunity to work with people in the real world. I hope all goes well and you get to work with them in the future. Good Luck this semester and in the future!

  12. Hey Paul!
Thanks for sharing a little part of who you are with the class! I think it is awesome that you have some freedom with your major, and that you are a senior and get to graduate soon! My boyfriend plays all of the same video games that you do, and thats really nice that you give yourself a break from just focusing your brain on school... I know my boyfriend enjoys his gaming breaks as well! I wish you the best this semester!

  13. Hi Paul! It is cool that you have a background in designing websites and working with them, so that could be really helpful this semester with our storybooks! I am really interested to see what you will do, since your knowledge can help you think of things others might not. Video games are so awesome, and I feel like those who play them really have creative sides so I hope I get to see yours come out in your stories.

  14. Hey Paul!
I too am a senior while currently in pre capstone I will be doing capstone next semester. So I absolutely understand what is going through your mind with this course and the hopes to stand out to a company! I too enjoy music, more so for the relaxation portion of it. Good luck with your capstone and goodluck with your job opportunities! Have a great semester.

  15. Hey Paul! You seem like you have a really neat plan set up for yourself. Cyber security is really fascinating. My sister's boyfriend does this for Magellan and it's honestly terrifying hearing how often people try to hack into oil and gas companies. I hope you snag an awesome internship and good luck with your future! Speaking from experience, make sure you plan out each class you need and confirm the times won't conflict, so you can still graduate in May. Otherwise, you'll be returning next Fall for one course...

  16. Hi Paul! Nice job on setting up a clear plan for your success! I would be completely lost in a conversation about cyber security. I know that it is a serious issue that seems to be growing and evolving super quickly. I am in the same boat hoping for a good internship as well. Good luck with preparing for graduation and the next steps of your career!

  17. Hi Paul! Nice to meet you. Cyber security sounds very important for this day and age. It's nice that you make time to focus on things other than school work. Honestly, there is nothing better than just relaxing and talking with your friends about life. My brother loves league (like many), and I still do not understand what is happening when I watch. Looks interesting though; hope you are having a good semester and graduation!

  18. Hey Paul,
It is nice to be able to meet you. Cybersecurity sounds really cool and as much as we use technology and the internet there should not be too much of an issue for you finding a job after you graduate. Good luck with everything and I hope you are able to find the job of your dreams.
