Week 2 Story: The Gambler and The Fools

Image
The Gambler and The Fools *updated story on my portfolio -> https://sites.google.com/view/indianepicsportfolio/first-story There once was a gambler named, Farah. This man was a trickster, who was very good at manipulating people and taking away people's money. Although, he would end up losing it all by gambling it away. Farah had to move cities every few weeks because his name was on the blacklist after he had taken much of the people's money. Not only was he blacklisted, there were mobs after to kill him. Frightened by this fact, he had to move quickly after taking the money. Farah had moved along 30 cities since he had started his adventure and came across a small town that seemed as if there were little to no people. The city he landed on was called, Dahu. This city was a small town that had a handful of people, but held a sufficient amount of money. Once Farah figured this fact out, he decided to plan something in order to fill his pockets once again. He knew that

Reading Notes: Jakata Anthology, Reading B

Reading Notes Bibliography:  The Foolish, Timid Rabbit  by Ellen C. Babbitt Image from "The Foolish, Timid Rabbit This story was quite hilarious to me. I love reading stories like this one, where the rabbit is unaware of his surroundings and causes a ruckus all around. The first rabbit who is scared the world was going to break runs for his life, once the sound of a crack is heard behind him, which was just a coconut. As he runs and runs, animals of all sorts join in until they come across the King Lion. Once the King Lion backtracks the first rabbits steps, he ends up calling the rabbit a fool.  Bibliography:  The Cunning Crane and the Crab  by  W. H. D. Rouse Image from "The Cunning Crane and the Crab In this story, the Crane is pretty clever and plots a plan to eat all the fish. The lake the fish were currently at was drying up from the heat, so they were bound to dry up and die. However, there was a beautiful lake nearby, that was under shade so the

Reading Options

Image
Some reading options I picked out for myself Krishna and Narakasura This particular story could be one for me, because it seems action packed and I would like to see what happens in the end.  Ganesha This story as well carries some action and seems to have an interesting story behind the boy being beheaded and an elephant head being placed instead. Krishna and Shishupala This story seemed interesting because it involves a boy who was supposed to be killed at birth, but was destined to only be killed by his killer.

Time Strategies

Image
Strategies In the article,  The Myth of "Too Busy" , it explains that we must make the choice to prioritize our time. I had an excessive problem with procrastinating till last minute and still do now. My current schedule is to take an hour out of my day and work on Indian Epics homework. In reality, I could really knock a week's assignments out in a day. I plan to improve on my work ethic through not only this class, but the 5 other classes i'm currently enrolled in. Anyways, in the article I was reading, it explains to us that we should prioritize our time around what we really need to get done instead of our schedule. In the article,  How to beat procrastination , it discusses how procrastination is embedded into our brains, it just takes the individual to decide whether or not they want to be overtaken by it. A method suggested in the article was to pre-commit by telling others that you're going to do something. If you're the type of person who doesn'

Technology Assessment

Image
Technology within Epics of India The technology tools used in this class are some of which I am familiar with, because of some classes I took that required these tools. Blogging and Graphics creation would be the two tools from this class that I have never used before. Therefore, I am excited to use these new tools and expand my knowledge using them. As for creating a website, I did so in my web design class, using HTML, CSS, and javascript. Although I may not be an expert at coding, I have a general basis of how the languages work and how to go about it. Bookmarking and Image editing come along with basic user functionalities, so I'm sure many of us have come across using these features.  Tech Development

Thoughts on this week's assignments

Image
My thoughts The format of this class is something I have never experienced. It would be safe to say that I have never had to keep up with a blog for a class. Although, I do find it amusing to be blogging and posting things up for people to look at. I'm looking forward to the storytelling assignments, so that I could convey my thoughts through a different outlet. Another part of the course that I'm looking forward to is the "tech tips" part, because I have a high interest in technical work. I'm also glad that there are extra credit opportunities, so that for whatever reason it may be, we get a leeway of points for missed work. Other than that, I'm excited to get into the course work and read everyone's posts.  Tech Space

My thoughts on Growth Mindset

Image
Growth Mindset Prior to this class, I have never heard or seen Carol Dweck's growth mindset. Listening to Dr. Dweck's video, I agree with many things she points out such as the constant needs of an award for our current generation. People work harder when they're given something of value, rather than doing so in the first place. The focus has reared downhill and many students nowadays are being reluctant to their studies and wanting the easy way out of things. I have learned about my own learning that I don't learn at the pace of many students and that I like to take things slow. I was always hesitant in asking a teacher or professor questions about a problem that everyone seemed to have gotten the first time. I struggled to find a method to study information to where I retain most of it. Growth mindset definitely is an interesting topic that I wouldn't mind learning more about. The mind is a complicated matter that holds massive power of our well-being and devel

Introduction to the simple life of Paul

Image
My Life My name is Paul Choi and I am currently a senior here at OU. My major is Information Studies, which is within the College of Arts and Sciences Department. I'd say the coolest thing about my major is that I could do many things with it, without being limited to specifics. I plan to pursue a career in cyber security for which ever company gives me an opportunity to do so. I am currently taking my capstone, which is the most exciting class I've taken so far in my history of classes and I plan to try extra hard so that I can stand out to the clients we are working with. This capstone is similar to an internship due to the fact that we work with different clients and perform a plethora of tasks, which range from designing websites to creating databases.          Apart from my college life, I like to do many things outside of school. One thing in particular would be just hanging out with my friends and enjoying some drinks while we talk about some deep internal issues th

Storybook Favorites

Image
My Favorite Storybooks 1.  Paranormal: The Ayodhya Files This story came to my interest because it is a topic that not many people are aware of. There happens to be a lot of myths that come and go revolving around demons which this story is discussing. The two brothers are the last of hunters and are on a mission to take down Ravana, the leader. I think that the background image and set up of the page is very nicely done and creates an eerie feeling. The introduction was a great lead in for the reader and kept me curious.  2.  Karma Dreams To begin, the storybook contains a creepy introduction picture that gives you the spook. Being aware of what Karma is and how people go about it, I expected the introduction to be the general, "there's good karma and bad karma. If you do good deeds, you'll get good karma, if not, you'll receive bad karma." This storybook introduction expanded the topic of Karma and brought in stories from others' experiences. It kep

My Favorite Place

My Favorite Place  Carrollton, Tx This city is definitely one of my top places to visit frequently, because of the lively atmosphere it brings to me. Being a Korean American in Oklahoma, I tend to miss out on a lot of the Korean culture and the cultural vibes that tend to linger when around a bunch of people that are my ethnic race. That is why Carrollton is a city where I love to visit frequently, because the Korean population is very high with a plethora of things to do and eat.    Carrollton, TX Municpal Court Image Source:  Wikimedia This photo is definitely not a great representation of the Koreatown in Carrollton, Tx, but there weren't any reusable photos I could use. Carrollton, Tx is far more beautiful than this and the Koreatown there is very lively. If you get the chance to visit Texas, hit up Carrollton!
